What is Ledger® Live?
Ledger® Live is the official companion application for Ledger® hardware wallets. It provides a single interface to view balances, manage multiple crypto accounts, install device apps, sign transactions, and access staking and swap features — while keeping your private keys on the hardware device.
Ledger® Live Download & Desktop vs App
Download the Ledger® Live Desktop for Windows, macOS or Linux, or install the Ledger® Live App on iOS/Android. Desktop is ideal for power users and app installation on the hardware device; mobile offers on-the-go balance checks and simple sends. Always use official Ledger® channels and verify checksums when available.
Ledger® Live wallet basics
Ledger® Live displays accounts linked to your hardware device. It never holds your seed phrase. Instead, it communicates with the hardware to create and sign transactions — your private keys remain isolated on the device. Use Ledger® Live to view transaction history, receive addresses, and manage app permissions.
Troubleshooting Ledger® login issues
- Confirm the device is unlocked with the correct PIN and appears in the Device Manager.
- Try a different USB cable/port and disable USB hubs or dock stations.
- Update Ledger® Live and device firmware; incompatible versions can block login.
- On mobile, check Bluetooth permissions and pair from the app, not from OS settings only.
Error connecting & app not working
If Ledger® Live shows connection errors or "Can't verify wallet", clear app cache (Settings > Help), reinstall Ledger® Live, and ensure no conflicting wallet software is open. Collect logs (Settings > Support > Export logs) before contacting support so the Help Center team can diagnose faster.
Unable to Ledger® Trezor?
Ledger® and Trezor are separate ecosystems. You cannot pair a Ledger® device directly with Trezor Suite. To transfer funds, send crypto from one device's address to the other after verifying addresses on both hardware screens.
Ledger® account recovery & 2FA reset
Recovery depends on your 24-word recovery phrase — not on Ledger® Live or app passwords. If you lose a device, restore on a compatible hardware wallet using your seed. There is no universal 2FA reset: protect your phrase and PIN. If compromise is suspected, move funds to a new wallet created from a fresh seed.
FAQs
- Where do I download Ledger® Live?
- From Ledger®'s official website — never from third-party downloads. Verify signatures/checksums when prompted.
- Ledger® Live can't detect my device — what should I try?
- Use a different USB cable/port, unlock your device, update firmware, and ensure Ledger® Live has required OS permissions.
- Can Ledger® Live recover my wallet if I forget my PIN?
- No. PIN reset requires the recovery phrase to restore funds on a new device. Ledger® Live password is local — clearing app data may be necessary but funds remain tied to the seed phrase.
- Is Ledger® Live free?
- Yes — Ledger® Live is free to download. Network fees apply when sending crypto.
- What does 'Can't verify wallet' mean?
- It typically indicates a firmware/app mismatch or a signing problem. Update firmware and confirm addresses on the hardware screen; contact Ledger® Help Center with logs if it persists.
- How do I contact Ledger® support?
- Use the official Ledger® Help Center and support channels; never share your recovery phrase with anyone claiming to be support.
